Adam’s Educational Moment: Choosing the Right Mask to Protect Yourself and Others

Our Educational Coordinator, Adam Engel of Prime Title and Escrow, shared some great info about selecting the right Mask to help protect against COVID-19.  The most effective mask should have multiple layers of natural fibers with a polypropylene guard in the middle as a filter.  N95 masks are so effective because they have that filter.  Avoid masks with exhalation valves.  These masks release unfiltered air, so it does not protect others if you are exhaling the virus.  Finally, be sure to wash your mask every day with detergent and hot water.

Adam’s Educational Moment: Decision Making

Adam Engel of Prime Title is the Geese’s Educational Coordinator.  He shares great info about networking and marketing with the Geese each week.  Recently, he discussed the following article from Kevin Eikenberry.  Maybe it can help you and your team:

How to Encourage Your Team To Make Decisions

In a world of constant change where the status quo is a myth, making decisions are part of the lifeblood of any successful organization. Leaders who try to make all those decisions will be pressed, stressed, and likely behind. Whether thinking about the short-term need for decisions to be made or the long-term implications for empowering team members, leaders must distribute decision making to the team. The question is how to do it.

Here is a seven-step process to distribute decision making to your team.  Click here to read the steps!

Makeup and Masks Can Coexist! (from Jennifer Kyle Herd of Mary Kay)

Hi Ladies,

I hope you all are healthy and finding ways to enjoy summer. Things are quiet in the office so I am using the time to sort through files and reorganize materials (it’s amazing what you find in your files after 26 years in business…)

Many of us aren’t wearing as much makeup these days (except for Zoom calls!) but for those who are, a big area of concern is how to keep your makeup from rubbing off on your mask. Last week, I came across a blog post from beauty reporter Niko Maragos who tried 5 different methods to to keep it from transferring to her mask. Niko had a clear winner and I thought I would share it with you here:

“After doing your skin care, load your brush with a bit of your foundation and then spray the fibers with your setting spray. Apply the product and work it in quickly: In my experience, the setting spray will cause the product to dry much faster than usual. I don’t recommend using a sponge for this technique; it will absorb the setting spray. Once your foundation is applied, follow with your setting powder and setting spray.”

Many of you already have some of the tools and products Niko mentions in her blog, but for those who don’t here’s what you’ll need in the Mary Kay line:

Mary Kay foundation: $25.00 (it’s transfer-resistant, just by itself!)

Mary Kay liquid foundation brush: $ 14.00

Mary Kay Makeup finishing spray: $18.00

Mary Kay translucent loose powder: $16.00 (brush additional: $14.00)

I am happy to report that I tried Niko’s method and it worked! I noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of makeup on my mask (it didn’t solve the problem completely, but it was much better) and my makeup looked fresher longer. You may have to experiment with the different steps to see what works best on your skin. For me, the setting powder made the biggest difference.

LIPS are still a tricky matter. Regardless of what trick you use, lip gloss smears all over the inside of masks, so I find I am wearing more lipstick these days. Matte lipsticks, lip stains and lip tints seem to stay on the best, but there is always a little color transfer to the masks, I find. Mary Kay does offer a matte lipstick formula, a limited edition lip tint and a limited-edition ultrastay lip laquer. Let me know if you’d like to see colors in person and I can send you samples and arrange a Zoom call to try colors.

Please feel free to call/email/ text me if you have any questions. I’m here to help!

Have a great weekend!
